"Pinteresting" Finds

Being the white girl that I am, I love Pinterest. I spend so much time looking for new hair styles to copy, healthy snacks, quick beauty tips, and, most of all, ideas for what I should wear that day. Here are a few of my most recent "Pinteresting" finds (see what I did there?).

The Fault in our Stars

Okay, I realize this book has been out for a while, but I just read it and it made me cry.

Having it All Together

I know we all run into people in our lives that just have it all together. You know, the people who just ALWAYS look fierce and ALWAYS have the right thing to say? Lord knows I am not one of these people. I spend 99% of my life in gym shorts and a t-shirt. And, boy, I do not have the gift of words. More times than not, all the encouragement I can give to a girlfriend  is an effortless "Bless your heart! I'll pray for you." All that to say, when I see a woman who has "all her ducks in a row" and looks fabulous while doing it, I tend to put her on a pedestal. Here are some women that I admire in that way...

                                                            Lauren Conrad
L.C. is an American TV personality, fashion designer, and an author/blogger. Oh, this girl is a domestic goddess. Between her book club, fitness inspiration, clothes line, decorating tips, and her recipes, I can spend hours on her website (laurenconrad.com). Her feminine image is rare in our culture, but I think that's why she is so popular among my generation. Not to mention just how beautiful she is! In a world when women are forced out of the home and into the working world, Lauren Conrad embraces her domestic skills.

                                                              Kate Middleton
The sweet, modern Cinderella story, starring the hansome Prince William and his Bride, Catherine, is the best romance of life! I know I am not alone in just adoring Kate Middleton. She can wear anything! From a formal gown that would look just plain frumpy on me to a polo a jeans that would make me look five years behind the popular east coast trend, she looks fabulous in it all! She created a wedding that would be emulated for years to come. But most of all, her grace and kindness make her a wonderful example for girls of all ages.

                                                    Sadie Robertson
Sadie is an All-American sweetheart. She became famous on her family's reality TV show, "Duck Dynasty". Her family shows their strong Christian faith by ending each episode with a prayer "in Jesus' name." But Sadie has made her family's faith her own. She is comfortable speaking out about Christianity. For example, recently, she was interviewed by FOX News and in the interview she called out celebrities who had, like her, became famous at a young age, but allowed their fame to cloud their morals and make poor decisions (::cough:: Miley ::cough::). She said, "I think people use their fame as an excuse to lose their faith." She continues to say that God should be the priority and she "Puts Him at the top of everything." She also has her own line of "daddy approved" formal dresses by Sherri Hill (and may I say, they are lovely!)

All that to say, there are some women in the world that I truly adore, but I have to constantly remind myself that no one has a perfect life! I tell myself that Lauren Conrad has mood swings. Kate Middleton argues with her husband. And Sadie Robertson breaks out just like I do. We live in a fallen world so no one has it all together. My mom always tells me "There will always be some one with more than you, and there will always be some one with less than you." That puts it all into perspective!

Getting Started

I'm not really sure how to start a blog, but here we go...

I was inspired to make a blog by watching my two older sisters post their thoughts on their blogs (Country Poppies and Glitter and Plato) and simply because I love to read other people's blogs. Whether I have readers or not does not matter to me. I enjoy putting my ideas in writing. Over the next five years, my life will be changing drastically, and I like the idea of being able to to go back and read the thoughts, struggles, and worries that I felt through my senior year of high school, choosing a college, and seeing my oldest sister get married.

My goal every time I post is to encourage you with Scripture, inspire you to get in the kitchen, and maybe make you giggle a bit. My blog will be a true reflection of how I feel, what I believe and who I am.

My Family: Ryan, My mom, Sarah, Megan, My dad, and me.
To give you a quick idea, I am the youngest of four kids, two sisters and a brother. I have a southern mother and a dad who spent 25 years in the US Navy. We now live in Annapolis, MD (my home town). I'm seventeen years old and can not wait to explore the world. I'm always excited by the future. The I love the idea of being a wife and mother and I believe that there is no greater honor.

That's all I can think to say.... I know this post must be super boring, but I have to start somewhere!
